Reyna has "lost his edge" at DortmundTold to join different European club"Would be a great fit"Follow GOAL on WhatsApp! 🟢📱WHAT HAPPENED?
CBS Sports analyst and former USMNT star Charlie Davies has recommended that Reyna make a move to Ajax, where he "would be a great fit." Davies thinks Reyna has developed into a good pro at Dortmund, where he is a "great teammate" but also claims "he's lost the edge" that made him a breakout star.

Davies said: "I think Ajax would be a great fit for Gio Reyna. From talking to some of the players, he's absolutely changed his personality. He is a pro. He doesn't come across as entitled, he's a good team-mate now. But he's lost the edge and that comes with the loss of match sharpness and fitness. I think we need to see Gio back to being confident as hell again. I think playing time and playing at a high level would do wonders."
THE BIGGER PICTURE
Reyna is still just 22 but it has been some time since he was talked about as one of the most exciting talents in world football. The forward has scored just two goals in 25 Bundesliga appearances for Dortmund since the beginning of the 2024-25 season and had an unsuccessful loan spell at Nottingham Forest last year. Ajax are renowned for playing the kind of attacking football that would suit him.
